Dr. Michelle Fleetwood, DVM, DACVP

Dr. Michelle Fleetwood is a graduate of Kansas State University and completed a pathology residency at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology where she is currently on staff. She completed a prosectorship at the National Zoo, and has a special interest in dermatopathology, infectious diseases and exotics. For the last two years, Dr. Fleetwood has been a pathologist for the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog race.

   

Dr. Karen Russell, DVM, PhD, Diplomate ACVP (Clinical Pathology)

Dr. Karen Russell is a graduate of the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. She completed an internship and residency training in clinical pathology at Kansas State University and Cornell University, respectively and received her PhD from North Carolina State University. She is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (Clinical Pathology) and an Associate Professor at Texas A&M University. Karen is the Director of the Clinical Pathology Laboratory at TAMU, Coordinator of the Clinical Pathology Residency Program, and Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Animal Science, Bunda College of Agriculture, Malawi. She is a member of the American Society of Veterinary Clinical Pathology and serves as Secretary for the organization. Her research and professional interests include iron storage disease in birds, hemostasis in companion animals, and tick-borne diseases. In her free time, she enjoys horseback riding, birding, and the Texas Gulf Coast.

   

Dr. Mark Johnson, D.V.M, Diplomate ACVP (Clinical Pathology)

Dr. Mark Johnson completed his Clinical Pathology residency in 1999 at Texas A&M University, where he is currently on staff. Dr. Johnson has several years of teaching experience with undergraduate students, graduate students, residents, interns and postdoctoral fellows. Along with his extensive list of publications, Dr. Johnson has also earned several prestigious awards, honors and scholarships, including the Carl Norden-Pfizer Distinguished Teaching Award and the Association of Former Students Distinguished Teaching Award. Dr. Johnson is a member of the AVMA, the American Society for Veterinary Clinical Pathology, the American College of Veterinary Pathologists and several other professional organizations and services.

   

Dr. Linda K. Johnson, DVM, MS, MPH, DACVP

Dr. Linda Johnson graduated from Kansas State University and joined the Peace Corps in Togo, Africa.   This experience prompted specialization in pathology and completion of a MS degree followed by a 3-year postdoctoral fellowship at The Johns Hopkins University.  Linda worked at the Registry of Comparative Pathology at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology for 4 years and has held positions at Albert Einstein and Yale Colleges of Medicine.   For the past 4 years Linda has worked in England, researching veterinary vaccines, avian influenza and livestock diseases, for the British government.   Her special interests include diseases of laboratory animals and infectious diseases.
